Big names to appear at San Jose Comic Con
Arnold Schwarzenegger, action movie superstar and former California governor, is expected to make his first appearance at the Silicon Valley Comic Con when the event returns to the San Jose Convention Center on Aug. 1618.
Schwarzenegger joins “Aquaman” star Jason Momoa as the top names on the lineup, along with a wave of other featured guests at the pop culture, science and technology exposition, including astronaut Chris Hadfield, game designer Will Wright and the return of “MythBusters Jr.” and “Savage Builds” star Adam Savage, SVCC officials announced Wednesday, July 3.
“Terminator 2” stars Robert Patrick and Edward Furlong will also be at the convention, officials said.
Tickets, which range from $20 singleday child passes to $550 threeday VIP Platinum access, are available at www.svcomiccon.com.
The convention was cofounded in 2016 by Apple cofounder Steve Wozniak as a
way to merge his science and popular culture interests. Guests during the first two years included William Shatner, Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin, comics pioneer Stan Lee and much of the cast of “Star Trek: The Next Generation.”
Schwarzenegger is scheduled to appear on the last day of the convention and to be available for autographs and photos, including a “Terminator 2” reunion option with Patrick and Furlong.
He won the Mr. Universe title, starred in movies including “The Terminator” and “Predator,” and served as California’s governor from 2003 to 2011.
He returns to the Terminator role later this year in “Terminator: Dark Fate.”
Other previously announced guests for the 2019 convention include “The OC” and “Gotham” star Ben McKenzie, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” star Julie Benz, “The Incredible Hulk” star Lou Ferrigno and “The Martian” author Andy Weir.
The convention includes keynote speeches, panels and cosplay contests, plus a children’s Steam lab, SVCC Science Fair and other technologyfocused events.
