Bucks sign guard Korver

-

The Milwaukee Bucks signed guard Kyle Korver, one of the best threepoint shooters in NBA history.

Korver, 38, was waived July 7 by Phoenix — which acquired him in a trade with Memphis — making him a free agent. Korver had been traded to Memphis by Utah, where he played most of last season.

Korver appeared in a combined 70 games with the Cavaliers and Jazz last season, averaging 8.6 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists and shooting 39.7% from 3point range. The 2015 AllStar ranks third among all active NBA players in 3point fieldgoal percentage (42.9) and ninth in NBA history.

The Toronto Raptors signed Cameron Payne, a guard who played last season with Chicago and Cleveland, averaging 6.3 points, 2.7 assists and 17.8 minutes in 40 games last season. NHL: Buffalo Sabres forward Evan Rodrigues was awarded a oneyear, $2 million contract following an arbitration hearing.

The St. Louis Blues acquired Andreas Borgman from the Toronto Maple Leafs for Jordan Schmaltz, a swap of young defensemen. Track and field: Justin Gatlin remains on the fence on whether he will compete beyond his opening 100meter run at the U.S. nationals in Des Moines, Iowa, finishing second in his firstround heat in 10.16 seconds.

He has an automatic bye to the world championships this fall in Doha as the defending 100 champion and needed to take just one trip down the track at nationals.

Thursday’s first day was devoted to preliminaries.
