The Anaheim Ducks have ridden a hot goaltender to the franchise’s third 30 start. Nick Ritchie scored the tiebreaking goal midway through the third period, and visiting Anaheim beat the Detroit Red Wings 31 on Tuesday night.

The Ducks also won their first three in 200607 and last season. So far this season, they’ve been buoyed by John Gibson, who has allowed one goal in each of the three games.

Oilers 5, Islanders 2: After a rough season in Calgary, James Neal has rediscovered his scoring touch with Edmonton. Neal had his first career four-goal game and the Oilers beat host New York. Neal has six goals this season, all in the past two games, after totaling seven in 63 games with the Flames a year ago.

Kings 4, Flames 3: Drew Doughty scored a power-play goal 50 seconds into overtime to give Los Angeles a victory in Calgary. The Kings picked up their first win after falling 6-5 in their season opener Saturday.

Bruins 4, Golden Knights 3: Brad Marchand scored twice for visiting Boston. Goalies Tuuka Rask for Boston and Marc-Andre Fleury for Vegas each made 31 saves.

Hurricanes 6, Panthers 3: Ryan Dzingel scored two goals and visiting Carolina beat Florida for its fourth straight victory to begin the season, equaling the best start in franchise history. Teuvo Teravainen and Jordan Staal each had a goal and an assist for Carolina, which scored four times in the first period.

Jets 4, Penguins 1: The youngest member of an inexperienced Winnipeg defensive unit led the way to a big win. Ville Heinola scored his first NHL goal and the Jets beat host Pittsburgh, the Jets’ first win there since returning to the NHL in 2011.

Stars 4, Capitals 3: Tyler Seguin scored in overtime to give visiting Dallas its first win of the season. Seguin ended the Stars’ seasonopening, three-game losing streak 43 seconds into overtime off a pass from linemate Alexander Radulov.
