Story line: In their sixth game, the Spartans have a chance for their fourth win; they haven’t had four wins in a season since 2016. Nevada had a bye last week, much needed after a 54-3 throttling at the hands of Hawaii in its Mountain West opener Sept. 28.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

Love has thrown for 1,418 yards this season and has completed 61.9 percent of his passes. He has seven TDs and only one interception in 181 attempts.

⏩ Malik Henry — a former Florida State commit who played at Independence CC (Kansas) last season — will start at quarterback for Nevada, the Wolf Pack’s starting QB this season. Elijah Cooks (23 catches, 260 yards, 4 TDs) and Kaleb Fossum (20/ 195/0) are Nevada’s top receivers.

⏩ San Jose State beat Nevada in 2001 and ’02, but since then SJS has only two wins in the series: 27-24 in 2007 and 14-10 in 2016. In the past two years, the Wolf Pack have won 59-14 (2017) and 21-12. The Spartans have lost eight straight games in Reno.
