Hawks defeat Magic to end slide

The Atlanta Hawks have been the worst team in the NBA this season — except against the Orlando Magic.

Brandon Goodwin scored 21 points, Kevin Huerter added 19, and the visiting Hawks beat the Magic 10193 Monday night to end a 10game skid.

Playing without injured guard Trae Young for the second straight game, the Hawks trailed by 18 during the first half but rallied in the third quarter. Alex Len scored eight of his 18 points to fuel a 154 run, and Atlanta’s defense yielded only six field goals in the quarter.

Len’s drive and dunk just before the horn gave the visitors a 7472 lead.

“It felt like I was getting fouled on every play and got no calls, but that’s the way it goes in this league,” Len said. “Maybe I earned some (respect) by playing more aggressively. We don’t get respect, but you’ve got to earn it, and a couple of wins like this will do that.”

Atlanta improved to 727 by snapping its second 10game losing streak of the season. This one ended with the Hawks’ second win in two tries against Orlando.

Young twisted his ankle in a loss to Milwaukee on Friday.

Nikola Vucevic led the Magic with 27 points.

Bucks 123, Bulls 102: Giannis Antetokounmpo had 23 points and 10 rebounds after missing two games with a sore back, and visiting Milwaukee pulled away in the second half.

Wizards 123, Heat 105: Jordan McRae scored 29 points, Garrison Mathews had 28 and Ian Mahinmi added 25 as depleted Washington beat visiting Miami.

Timberwolves 122, Nets 115: Shabazz Napier scored 24 points, Jarrett Culver added 21 and shorthanded Minnesota rallied and beat visiting Brooklyn in overtime.

Jazz 104, Pistons 81: Donovan Mitchell scored 23 points and Jordan Clarkson added 20 to lead host Utah over Detroit.

Suns 122, Trail Blazers 116: Devin Booker had 33 points and Kelly Oubre Jr. scored 29 as Phoenix beat host Portland.
