Dobbins declares for NFL draft

Ohio State running back J.K. Dobbins, who set a school record with 2,046 rushing yards this season, announced Monday on Twitter that he will forgo his senior season and enter the NFL draft.

Dobbins ran for 174 yards and a touchdown in Ohio State’s 2923 College Football Playoff semifinal loss to Clemson on Saturday.

“Dear Ohio State, Thank you for everything,” Dobbins wrote on Twitter. “I’ve built relationsh­ips that will last me a lifetime at this great university. I’ve created bonds with my brothers on the teams for the past three years that will never be broken.”

Dobbins broke Eddie George’s school mark of 1,927 yards set in 1995.

» Oklahoma receiver CeeDee Lamb also tweeted that he will skip his senior season and enter the NFL draft.

Lamb, a finalist for the Biletnikof­f Award, had 62 receptions for 1,327 yards and 14 touchdowns this season.

Monday’s bowl games

Orange Bowl: Lamical Perine scored on a 61-yard run in the opening minute and didn’t stop after that, totaling 181 yards rushing and receiving with three touchdowns to help No. 6 Florida (11-2) win 36-28 over Virginia (9-5) in Miami Gardens, Fla. Perine came into the game with only 538 yards rushing this year in the Gators’ pass-oriented offense. Music City Bowl: In Nashville, Micale Cunningham threw for 279 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 81 more to lead Louisville (8-5) to a 38-28 win over Mississipp­i State (6-7). Louisville held Kylin Hill, the SEC’s leading rusher, to 3 yards on seven carries. First Responder Bowl: Cory Munson kicked a 52-yard field goal with no time remaining to give Western Kentucky (9-4) a 23-20 win over Western Michigan (7-6) in Dallas. The Hilltopper­s drove 36 yards in 27 seconds before Munson’s kick.
