_1 Weinstein trial: A jury of seven men and five women was selected Friday for Harvey Weinstein’s rape trial in New York City after an arduous twoweek process, setting the stage for testimony to begin next week. The final tally mostly erased a gender imbalance that, just hours earlier, led to complaints by prosecutors that the defense was deliberately trying to keep young women off the panel. Three alternate jurors — one man and two women — were also seated. Weinstein, the former studio boss and movie mogul, has pleaded not guilty and said any sexual activity was consensual. If convicted, he could face life in prison.

_2 Airport mishap: A plane slid off an icy taxiway at Kansas City International Airport on Friday as a sprawling winter storm hit large sections of the Midwest and beyond, leading to the closure of schools, universities and government offices. The Delta Air Lines flight was taxiing to be deiced before flying to Detroit when the nosegear slipped off a taxiway, said Delta spokeswoman Martha Witt. There were no reports of injuries aboard the Airbus A319, which was carrying 123 passengers and a crew of six.

_3 Bus driver assaulted: A bus driver in North Carolina was transporting kids to school when her exboyfriend boarded the vehicle and began beating the woman, who managed to keep her foot on the brake even after being knocked to the floor, police said. The Scotland County Schools driver had stopped to pick up students along her morning route Tuesday in Laurinburg when Kenneth Latrel Revels, 46, boarded unexpectedly, police said in a statement. Revels is accused of punching her repeatedly and stomping her head after knocking her to the floor. As many as 20 children were on board, watching while she struggled to keep her foot on the brake to prevent the bus from moving. Revel fled and has not yet been arrested.

_4 Child neglect: A North Dakota woman has been charged with felony child neglect after she was accused of leaving six children with the body of an acquaintance who overdosed. Amber Barrett of Fargo also is charged with a misdemeanor count of failing to report a death. Court documents said police were called Nov. 16 to a home on a report of an unresponsive man. Officers were let into the home by six children who directed them to the man lying on the living room floor. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful. Barrett told police that her friend was sweating heavily and slurring his words and she believed he was likely overdosing. Police said, however, that she knew the man was dead before she left for work.

_5 Deputy arrested: A former Los Angeles County sheriff ’s deputy who is accused of falsely reporting that he had been shot by a sniper has been arrested. Angel Reinosa was taken into custody Thursday during a traffic stop in Sylmar and was booked on suspicion of insurance fraud and filing a false police report, according to the sheriff ’s department. Reinosa radioed on Aug. 21 that he had been shot in the shoulder at the Lancaster sheriff ’s station parking lot, prompting a massive search. Some people were evacuated, while others sheltered in place.
