- Chronicle staff writer Steve Kroner contributed to this report.

USF used a 245 stretch that spanned halftime to turn an eightpoint deficit into an 11point lead en route to a 7061 win at Santa Clara on Thursday night.

The Dons (1710, 66 WCC) trailed 2416 with eight minutes left in the first half before putting together that stretch during which the Broncos (188, 56) did not have a field goal. When guard Charles Minled hit a foul shot to cap the stretch, USF led 4029 early in the second half.

Santa Clara got no closer than five the rest of the way. The Dons halted their skid at three games.

“It was going to be dependent upon us holding them at bay,” USF head coach Todd Golden told the Dons’ website. “On the road, it’s really hard to do that, especially against a team that you’re vying for tournament seeding against. It was a really, really good win for us.”

USF point guard Jamaree Bouyea had game highs of 17 points and seven assists. Two USF players put together doublesdoubles: Center Jimbo Lull had 16 points and 14 rebounds, and Minlend had 11 points and 10 boards.

Jaden Bediako led Santa Clara with 14 points. The Broncos’ DJ Mitchell had 12 points and 10 rebounds.

One bit of good news for the

Broncos: Forward Guglielmo Caruso, who had been out since Dec. 29 because of a lower leg injury, played five minutes. He scored one point.

ASU 74, Stanford 69: At Maples Pavilion, Remy Martin scored 24 points as the Sun Devils (168, 74 Pac12) held off the Cardinal (168, 56). Freshman guard Tyrell Terry led Stanford, which has lost three straight, with 24 points. The Cardinal played without forward Oscar da Silva, who endured a scary fall in a loss at Colorado on Saturday.
