President Trump will meet with Central Valley farmers and Olympic officials on a swing through Western states next week that includes several stops in California.

According to the White House, Trump is set to arrive in Los Angeles on Tuesday, where he will receive an update on preparations for the 2028 Summer Olympic Games in that city. Then on Wednesday, the president will join House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy in his Bakersfield district to discuss efforts to increase agricultural water delivery.

That evening, Trump heads to Phoenix for a campaign rally, before continuing to Las Vegas on Thursday to meet with former prisoners and then to Colorado for another rally.

The visit to California also includes scheduled fundraisers in Bakersfield and Beverly Hills, as well as one at the Rancho Mirage (Riverside County) home of Oracle Corp. Chairman Larry Ellison, the Desert Sun newspaper in Palm Springs reported. People attending the Ellison fundraiser, which costs $100,000 to $250,000, will join the president for a golf outing and discussion.

Trump is coming to California as tensions between the administration and state leaders are rising. The administration sued the state last week over California’s new ban on private prisons, including those used by federal authorities. The lawsuit argues that the state has no right to regulate the placement of about 7,000 inmates and immigrants that the federal government keeps in privately owned facilities in the state.

During an appearance on ABC’s “The View” this week, Gov. Gavin Newsom said California is “the most unTrump state in America,” and accused the president of being “just scared of California.”
