Richard Nelson Levy passed away peacefully on March 25, 2020, at his home in Napa, CA. Born on January 27, 1925, to Harry and Esther Levy in Rochester, New York, Richard was the youngest of two children. He was married to the late Bette Ellen Goldburg (the love of his life) until her passing in 1992 and was the father to Harry A. Levy and grandfather to Jacob Levy.

After graduating with a BA from Hobart College in Geneva, New York, he moved to San Francisco and in 1966, founded NusbaumLevy Wholesale (sold to Bacar Inc in 1982). Starting a consulting business in 1984, he would also serve on the boards of Simon Home Centers, Fox Hardware, BIA Cordon Bleu and Grocery Outlet, among others. He was also an advisor to the Gavin Report Radio Magazine, a past trustee at Hobart & William Smith College, past president of the Board of Trade, San Francisco and president of Lake Merced Golf Club.

Richard leaves behind many relatives, friends and business associates who saw and felt his generosity and kindness throughout his amazing life for which he was extremely grateful. He will be missed but his spirit, influence and mentorship will remain with those who knew him well.

Entombed next to his beloved wife Bette was held at House of Peace mausoleum in Colma on March 27th, there will be a memorial service/celebration of life for him scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers or donations, please offer an unexpected act of kindness for a person who needs it: That would make Richard smile.
