The LPGA announces it has canceled a March event in China. A week and a half later, the women’s golf tour cancels the remainder of events of its Asian swing.

March 3:

Chicago State University’s men’s and women’s basketball teams suspend their seasons.

March 10:

The Ivy League cancels its men’s and women’s basketball tournament­s.

March 11:

The Warriors plan to play their home game against the Nets the next night without fans in attendance. The decision comes shortly after the announceme­nt by Mayor London Breed that all events in San Francisco of more than 1,000 people would be canceled for two weeks.

March 11:

The NCAA announces it will hold men’s and women’s basketball tournament­s without fans.

Shortly before tipoff, it is reported that Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert has tested positive for the coronaviru­s. The Jazz-Thunder game — and the Pelicans-Kings game scheduled for later that night — is postponed and the NBA suspends its season.

March 12:

MLB, MLS and NHL suspend their seasons; the NCAA announces remaining winter and spring sports championsh­ips are canceled, including the NCAA basketball tournament­s.

March 12:

The PGA Tour plays the first round of The Players Championsh­ip in Ponte Vedra, Fla., with fans in attendance. The Tour announces the remainder of the tournament will be played without fans. Meanwhile, the LPGA suspends the rest of its season.

NASCAR announces events at Atlanta Motor Speedway and HomesteadM­iami Speedway will be held without fans.

March 13:

The PGA Tour cancels the remainder of The Players Championsh­ip, along with its next three tournament­s.

IndyCar suspends its season, cancels races through April.

NASCAR suspends its season until May.

March 17:

Former Warriors forward Kevin Durant is one of four Nets players to test positive for the coronaviru­s.

The PGA of America postpones the PGA Championsh­ip at San Francisco’s Harding Park Golf Course, scheduled for May 14-17.

March 19:

Saints head coach Sean Payton tests positive for the coronaviru­s.

March 24:

The Tokyo Olympics are postponed to 2021.

April 5:

A source tells The Chronicle the PGA of America plans to reschedule the PGA Championsh­ip for Aug. 6-9 at Harding Park.

April 16:

The PGA Tour unveils its revised schedule, with a June 11 return date in Texas.

April 17:

The WNBA holds a virtual draft, with Sabrina Ionescu (Walnut Creek) selected No. 1 overall.

April 23-25:

The NFL holds a virtual draft, with Joe Burrow (LSU) selected No. 1 overall.

April 30:

NASCAR announces its return will be May 17 at Darlington Raceway in South Carolina.

May 8:

NASCAR cancels its annual stop at Sonoma Raceway; the Toyota/Save Mart 350 had been scheduled for June 14.

May 11:

Sources say MLB owners OK a proposal to start spring training in early to midJune with the season opening around the July 4 weekend with games played without fans.
