1 Base shooting: A shooting at a Texas naval air station that wounded a sailor and left the gunman dead early Thursday is being investigated as “terrorismrelated,” the FBI said, but divulged few details as to why. The suspect was identified as Adam Alsahli of Corpus Christi, according to three officials familiar with the investigation who were not authorized to speak publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity. At about 6:15 a.m., the gunman tried to speed through a security gate, opening fire and wounding a sailor, a member of base security, officials said. Other security personnel shot and killed the man. 2 Cohen released: President Trump’s former personal lawyer and fixer, Michael Cohen, was released from federal prison Thursday to serve the remainder of his sentence at home because of the coronavirus pandemic. Wearing a surgical mask and a baseball cap, Cohen arrived at his Manhattan apartment building at around 10:40 a.m. after his release from FCI Otisville in New York. Cohen, who pleaded guilty to tax charges, campaign finance fraud and lying to Congress, didn’t stop to speak with reporters gathered on the sidewalk. Cohen, 53, began serving his sentence last May and had been scheduled to remain in prison until November 2021.

3 Intel chief: A divided Senate voted 4944 Thursday to confirm Texas Rep. John Ratcliffe, a fierce conservative ally of President Trump’s with relatively little intelligence experience, to become the next director of the nation’s spy agencies. Democrats agreed to dispense with the normal rules and accelerate Ratcliffe’s confirmation in an effort to more quickly oust the acting director of national intelligence, Richard Grenell, whose actions have irked lawmakers in both parties. Ratcliffe received far more votes against him than any other nominee to the intelligence post was created in 2004.

4 Georgia shooting: The Georgia man who filmed cell phone video of Ahmaud Arbery’s fatal shooting was arrested Thursday and charged with murder in his death. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said 50yearold William “Roddie” Bryan was arrested on charges of felony murder and criminal attempt to commit false imprisonment. Arbery was slain Feb. 23 after a white father and son armed themselves and pursued him after spotting the 25yearold black man running in their neighborhood. It took two months before authorities arrested Gregory McMichael and his son, Travis, on charges of felony murder and aggravated assault. The video Bryan took from his vehicle helped stir a national outcry when it leaked online. 5 Admissions scandal: “Full House” Actress Lori Loughlin and her fashion designer husband, Mossimo Giannulli, agreed to serve prison time as part of a plea deal in the college admissions bribery case, according to court papers filed Thursday. Loughlin, 55, agreed to serve two months and Giannulli, 56, agreed to serve five months under the deal that must be approved by a federal judge in Boston. They are scheduled to plead guilty Friday via video conference. The couple were charged with paying $500,000 in bribes to get their two daughters into USC.
