St. Mary’s Jordan Ford and Malik Fitts will remain teammates at least for a while in the pros. Each has signed a freeagent contract with the Los Angeles Clippers.

The two signed “Exhibit 10” deals, which include invitations to training camp and the chance to compete for a spot on the NBA team’s roster or the roster of its G League affiliate.

Ford and Fitts led the Gaels to a 4820 record over the past two seasons. Ford, a 6foot1 guard, put together a brilliant senior season in 201920. He made the AllWCC first team for the second straight year as he led the conference in scoring at 21.9 points per game and was second in freethrow percentage at 83.6.

A graduate of Folsom High, Ford left Moraga with 1,929 career points, four shy of Matthew Dellavedova’s school record.

Fitts, a 68 forward, chose not to return to Moraga for what would have been a redshirt senior season. Fitts began his college career at South Florida, but after one season with the Bulls he transferred to St. Mary’s.

He had two remarkably consistent seasons with the Gaels. As a sophomore in 201819, he averaged 15.2 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. He shot 47.5% from the floor, including 40.6% from 3point range, and was a 77% shooter from the foul line.

As a junior last season, Fitts averaged 16.5 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. He shot 47.2% from the floor, including 40.8% from 3point range, and was a 79.9% shooter from the foul line.

The Clippers have become something of a “Gaels South.” Former St. Mary’s forward Beau Levesque recently joined the Clippers as a playerdevelopment and video coach.
