The 49ers on Monday added nose tackle D. J. Jones and defensive end Jordan Willis to the reserve/ COVID19 list, where they joined six teammates.

The 49ers have added seven players to the list since defensive lineman Arik Armstead was added Nov. 16, a day after their 2713 loss in New Orleans.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Nov. 17 that Armstead did have “close contacts” who would be joining him on the list. The 49ers since have added wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, left tackle Trent Williams, defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw, linebacker Joe Walker and center Hroniss Grasu.

NFL teams are not permitted to reveal if a player is placed on the list because of a positive coronavirus test or if he is quarantining because he was a close contact with an infected person.

If a player has tested positive for the virus and is asymptomatic, he needs to pass two coronavirus tests and could return as soon as five days after his initial positive test. If a player has tested positive and has symptoms, he can’t return until 10 days have passed since his symptoms first appeared. If a player has close contact with an infected person, he needs to have two negative tests before he can return.

In other news, the 49ers waived linebacker Kiko Alonso, 30, with a failed physical designation. Alonso, who tore an ACL in January, was acquired this month in a trade in which the 49ers also received a conditional fifthround pick while dealing linebacker Kwon Alexander to the Saints.
