Dover Quartet will play virtual recital
Among the casualties of the local 2020 music season, as a result of the COVID19 pandemic, one particularly painful loss was the chance to hear the Dover Quartet in recital. This young American ensemble has attracted plenty of acclaim from listeners elsewhere, and its recordings suggest a group of considerable poise and fervor.
For now, we’ll have to make do with a prerecorded stream, the latest weekly installment in the Cal Performances at Home series.
Captured in performance at the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia, the quartet is set to play music by Haydn and Dvorák, as well as György Ligeti’s beguiling String Quartet No. 1, “Métamorphoses nocturnes.”
