Pepperdine hands Cal 3rd straight loss

Kessler Edwards scored 26 points and grabbed eight rebounds as Pepperdine handed Cal its third straight loss with a 7462 decision in Malibu on Wednesday night.

The Waves ( 32) led 4430 at halftime and maintained a doubledigi­t lead the rest of the way. Pepperdine’s Colbey Ross had a gamehigh 11 assists.

The Bears ( 24) got 27 points from Matt Bradley and 21 points and eight boards from Grant Anticevich.

Santa Clara 76, Cal Poly 69: Josip Vrankic had 17 points and 14 rebounds as the visiting Broncos ( 5- 0) remained unbeaten by knocking off the Mustangs ( 1- 2).

UCLA 83, San Diego 56: Jaime Jaquez Jr. scored 17 points and the host Bruins ( 4- 1) took control with a 16- 1 first- half run to beat the Toreros, who were making their season debut. UCLA’s Johnny Juzang, a Kentucky transfer from nearby Tarzana who had been out with a stress reaction in his right foot, scored 10 points in 19 minutes.

Washington State 61, Idaho 58: Noah Williams scored 19 points as the host Cougars ( 4- 0) edged the Vandals ( 0- 3).

Arizona 85, CSU Bakersfiel­d 60: In Tucson, Terrell Brown Jr. had 16 points, Jemarl Baker Jr. added 15 and the Wildcats ( 4- 0) dominated the Roadrunner­s ( 1- 2).

Oregon 87, Florida A& M 66: N’Faly Dante went 10- for- 10 from the floor and 2- for- 2 at the line en route to 22 points as the host Ducks ( 3- 1) ripped the Rattlers ( 0- 3).

Washington 73, Seattle 41: Quade Green scored 18 points and the host Huskies ( 1- 3) throttled the Redhawks ( 3- 4).

Boise State 74, BYU 70: Emmanuel Akot’s 3- pointer with 13 seconds to play put the visiting Broncos ( 3- 1) ahead for good over the Cougars ( 5- 2).

# 2 Baylor 83, Stephen F. Austin 52: Adam Flagler scored 11 of his 14 points before halftime as the Bears ( 4- 0) won their home opener over the Lumberjack­s ( 3- 1).
