Browns’ Landry irked by spitting incident

-

Days after their hardhitting game, the Ravens and Browns are still bashing each other.

Cleveland wide receiver Jarvis Landry on Thursday called Baltimore cornerback Marcus Peters “a coward” for appearing to spit at him during Monday night’s game.

A video taken from the national TV broadcast shows Peters spitting in Landry’s direction at the end of the first quarter. Landry had his back turned and was walking toward Cleveland’s huddle when Peters spit.

“He’s a coward,” Landry said Thursday on a Zoom call. “He knew that maybe behind my back he could do things like that, but to my face he wouldn’t. Take it for what it’s worth and now I know. Everybody knows what type of player he is and the type of person he is and just move on from there.”

On Baltimore’s flight home following the Ravens’ 4742 win, Peters was filmed by a teammate calling Landry and injured Browns receiver Odell Beckham Jr. “homegirls.”

In a statement issued by the Ravens, Peters said: “I didn’t spit at Jarvis. Where I come from, when you have an issue with someone, you deal with it face to face, man to man. Anyone who believes that I intentionally spit at him does not know me — plain and simple.”

Status report: Lions center Frank Ragnow’s availability for Sunday’s game against the Titans is unknown as he deals with fractured throat cartilage, an injury suffered last weekend in a loss to the Packers. The Lions have been in contact with three specialists about his condition.

“I can tell you we’re not going to put him out there if it’s not safe,” Lions interim coach Darrell Bevell said. “We don’t want long repercussions of this for him down the road, and I don’t think he would want that either. So, we’ll take the information that we get from the specialist and go with that.”

Medical report: Giants offensive coordinator Jason Garrett tested positive for the coronavirus, so former Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens will call New York’s offensive plays against Cleveland on Sunday. ... Jets defensive tackle Folorunso Fatukasi and Broncos kicker Brandon McManus were placed on the reserve/ COVID19 list. ... Washington safety Deshazor Everett, who has started six games this season, was placed on injured reserve because of a pectoral muscle injury. ... The Chiefs’ starting tackles, Eric Fisher and Mike Remmers, each missed a second straight day of practice because of injuries, leaving their status unclear ahead of Sunday’s game against the Saints.

Briefly: For the first time since Oct. 25, quarterback Gardner Minshew will be in the Jaguars’ starting lineup Sunday when they face the Ravens. Quarterbacks Jake Luton and Mike Glennon have combined to make Jacksonville’s past six starts. ... Washington signed running back Lamar Miller off the Bears’ practice squad.
