Stella C. Yim, at the age of 97, passed away peacefully at home in San Francisco on January 7, 2021. She was born in Courtland, California. She was the last of 10 children born to Ow Yue Fook and Fan Fung King. She fondly spoke of her childhood in Courtland and the excitement of moving to San Francisco to live with one of her sisters. She spent most of her life in San Francisco. She met Walter in 1945 and they married the following year at the First Chinese Baptist Church where they were life- long members. She worked for the U. S. Immigratio­n and Naturaliza­tion Service from 1942 until her retirement in 1983. In their later years, Stella and Walter enjoyed traveling with their close friends to their favorite destinatio­n, Las Vegas. They also took trips to Asia and cruises to Alaska and Mexico.

Stella was preceded in death by Walter, her husband of 73 years. She is survived by her daughter, Paula and grandchild­ren, Justin and Nicole ( Jamey Bass). She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews and their children who called her “Aunty Cookie”. The family expresses deep gratitude to Michael Yap and Bryan Mar for all their support and her caregivers Letty and Agnes.

Due to COVID19 restrictio­ns, there will be a private family service and interment. A memorial will be planned once the pandemic has eased.
