Online season on tap for Cal Performanc­es

Newly recorded performanc­es by pianists Mitsuko Uchida and Jeremy Denk, jazz vocalist Jazzmeia Horn, soprano Renée Fleming, and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater are among the highlights of the spring season for Cal Performanc­es at Home, a virtual series sponsored by the Berkeley arts presenter during the pandemic.

The 12 performanc­es, announced by Executive and Artistic Director Jeremy Geffen, will air on Thursdays, beginning Feb. 25 with an appearance by the Takács Quartet and running through June 10. For each offering, Cal Performanc­es plans to host a digital watch party with live chats.

Performanc­es will be available on demand after airing for two to three months.

Also on the schedule are performanc­es by soprano Christine Goerke, the contempora­ry ensemble y Music, harpsichor­dist Mahan Esfahani and the Bang on a Can All Stars.

The spring season is slated to begin Feb. 10 with a livestream­ed conversati­on on “Social Media and the Future of Journalism,” featuring UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism Dean Geeta Anand and Tristan Harris.

Tickets are $ 15 for a single viewer, $ 30 for two viewers, and $ 60 per household viewing. $ 5 tickets are available for UC Berkeley students.
