The Warriors’ James Wiseman and Mychal Mulder were selected for AllStar weekend’s Rising Stars Challenge, a symbolic gesture, given that the event will not take place this year.

The NBA announced recently that the Rising Stars Challenge had been canceled “due to the limitation of having AllStar events all in one night.” The 3point contest and Skills Challenge will be held before Sunday’s AllStar Game in Atlanta, with the Slam Dunk contest coming during halftime.

But even though the Rising Stars Challenge won’t happen, the league still announced two 10man rosters — one for the U.S. team and one for the World team — Wednesday to honor some of the NBA’s top younger players. Wiseman, a rookie center, made the U.S. team, and Mulder, a secondyear guard who was born in Canada, was selected for the World team.

In 16 games this season entering Wednesday, Wiseman, 19, had averaged 12 points on 51.5% shooting (40% from 3point range), 5.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks. Mulder, 26, had averaged 4.2 points on 44.6% shooting (41.9% from 3point range) in 32 games.

Joining Wiseman on the U.S. team are New Orleans’ Zion Williamson, Memphis’ Ja

Morant, Charlotte’s LaMelo Ball, Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards, Sacramento’s Tyrese Haliburton, Miami’s Tyler Herro, Atlanta’s De’Andre Hunter, San Antonio’s Keldon Johnson and Denver’s Michael Porter Jr.

Joining Mulder on the World team are Miami’s Precious Achiuwa, Washington’s Deni Avdija and Rui Hachimura, New Orleans’ Nickeil AlexanderWalker, New York’s RJ Barrett, Denver’s Facundo Campazzo, Memphis’ Brandon Clarke, and Oklahoma City’s Luguentz Dort and Théo Maledon.

Oubre update: Guard Kelly Oubre Jr. missed Wednesday night’s game at Portland with a sprained left wrist.

Oubre, 25, suffered the injury during Tuesday’s practice after falling hard on a dunk attempt. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr called the scene scary, but noted that the injury is not considered serious. Oubre could be available for Thursday night’s matchup in Phoenix. That’s the Warriors’ last game before the AllStar break, which runs Friday through the following Wednesday.

“He had momentum dunking,” Kerr said, describing how Oubre got injured. “He swung forward, and he came down and tried to brace himself with his elbows. … Fortunately, It doesn’t appear to be any bad damage. He’s more sore than anything.”

Oubre and forward Andrew Wiggins entered Wednesday as the only Warriors players who’d appeared in all 35 games this season. After a rough start, Oubre has been one of Golden State’s most consistent players, averaging 20.1 points on 50.2% shooting (43% from 3point range), 6.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists over his past 15 games.

With Oubre out Wednesday, the Warriors started Kent Bazemore at shooting guard.
