Sept 8, 1964 - May 8, 2020
Phillip Wang, of Danville, CA passed away on May 8, 2020 at the age of 55 after a courageous battle with a rare neuroendocrine tumor. Phil (“Phe” to close family and friends) was born on September 8, 1964 in Silver Spring, MD to David and Doris Wang. Phil traveled extensively in his early years when his father joined the US State Department’s Foreign Service, living in Laos, the Philippines, Hong Kong and Germany. Never one to turn down an opportunity, even at 14 years of age, Phil left his family while stationed in Hong Kong to complete his high school education at Choate Rosemary Hall in Connecticut. Phil went on to Tufts University where he met the love of his life, Pam. After graduation, Phil began a long career in the field of advertising which culminated in his position as Senior Vice President Brand & Advertising, Integrated Marketing Lead at Wells Fargo Bank. Phil translated his keen perceptions, contagious enthusiasm and collaborative skills into highly successful advertising campaigns.
Phil and Pam married in Boston in 1991 and then promptly set off for California where their daughters, Alyssa and Stephanie, were born. Phil loved adventures with his daughters, taking them on numerous camping trips and sharing his love of travel with them. Leading by example, Phil taught them the importance of devotion to family, hard work, common sense and fearless fun. Phil was a natural athlete and excelled at many sports such as skiing, golf, tennis and even foosball. Many joyful days were spent in California’s wine country with friends, sipping a bold Zinfandel paired with tasty morsels. A consummate storyteller, Phil loved gathering with friends and family to share stories over a fabulous meal, such as hotpot.
Phil is survived by his wife, Dr. Pamela Wang and his lovely daughters, Alyssa and Stephanie; sister, Lesley Milovich and husband Steve Milovich; sister Brenda Clough and husband, Larry Clough; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A Celebration of Life will be held at a date to be determined in 2021. Donations in Phil’s honor may be made to The Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation.
