Mark James Powers was born in Oak Park, Illinois on February 8th, 1970 and he passed away on March 7, 2021 in San Francisco, California. Mark attended St. Emydius and Saint Ignatius High School. At Saint Ignatius, he played baseball, his all-time favorite sport. Additional­ly, Mark always claimed he introduced rap music to Saint Ignatius High School, one of his proudest accomplish­ments. Mark later attended San Diego State, before transferri­ng to St. Mary’s College where he obtained his Bachelor in Business Administra­tion and a minor in Economics. He also obtained his teaching credential­s from San Francisco State University. Mark was passionate about teaching and connecting with his students. Mark loved to run and was proud to have completed several marathons. Mark enjoyed going to Giants games, listening to music, spending time with his many friends, coaching his two kids in basketball, and menacing his family, especially about cleaning. Mark will be dearly missed. Mark is survived by his two children (Isabella Powers and Kameron Powers), his wife (Virginia Powers), his mother (Catherine Powers), his sister (Erin Powers), his brother-in-law, (Brian Prezlock), and his two nieces (Harper and Eve Prezlock). He was preceded in death by his father (Robert Powers) and his brother (Adam Powers). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will not be a funeral service; however, his family will celebrate Mark’s life once restrictio­ns allow.
