San Jose shooter kills man, wounds self

A man was shot and killed in San Jose on Wednesday before the shooter turned the gun on themself, according to police.

Police responded to the 900 block of North Fourth Street about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, San Jose police said. They found a man who had been shot, and who later died at the scene.

Authoritie­s then responded to a nearby residence, where a potential suspect was barricaded.

After “extensive negotiatio­ns,” police entered the residence and found the person with a selfinflic­ted gunshot wound. They were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The killing marks San Jose’s 12th homicide of 2021. The names of the people involved have not been released.
