Avs have three games postponed

-

The Colorado Avalanche will not play until at least Thursday after a third player was placed into the NHL’s COVID19 protocols Friday, the league said.

Three games are being postponed: against the Los Angeles Kings on Friday and Sunday and against the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday. The Avalanche aren’t expected to reopen their facilities for practice until next Wednesday at the earliest, pending test results.

The player’s identity was not released. Defenseman Bowen Byram and goaltender Philipp Grubauer were previously placed in the NHL’s COVID19 protocols.

The Avalanche’s woes and a recent COVID19 outbreak among Vancouver Canucks players and coaches have raised the question of whether the league will be able to complete even its shortened schedule. The Canucks haven’t played since March 24, and their scheduled return to action Friday was delayed to provide more time for their players’ recovery and preparation.

Friday’s games

Golden Knights 4, Ducks 0: Vegas took advantage of Colorado’s COVID-19 break, climbing within two points of the Western Division leaders after a three-goal second-period outburst broke up a scoreless game, backing Robin Lehner’s 16-save shutout in Anaheim.

Bruins 3, Islanders 0: Taylor Hall scored his second goal in two nights, Jeremy Swayman stopped 25 shots for host Boston.

Canadiens 2, Flames 1: Tyler Toffoli scored two goals, including the winner in the third period, as host Montreal snapped Calgary’s three-game winning streak.
