Cases surge in Bangkok slum

Health officials rushed on Wednesday to vaccinate thousands of people in Bangkok’s Long Toey area, the city’s largest slum with about 100,000 people living in a 1squaremile area, as new coronavirus cases spread through densely populated lowincome areas in the capital’s central business district. Thailand recorded 2,112 new cases and 15 deaths on Wednesday. The country has been reporting about 2,000 cases a day recently, often with doubledigit deaths in the third mass outbreak since the pandemic started.
