Hitrun kills man who fell off unicycle

A man who fell from his electric unicycle on a San Jose roadway was struck by a vehicle and died Tuesday, San Jose police said.

The man, whose name has not yet been released, fell while riding the singlewhee­led, batterypow­ered device eastbound in the 1500 block of Kooser Road in the middle of a traffic lane at about 9:55 p.m., and was immediatel­y hit by a vehicle that left the scene after the incident. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was the 17th person to die in a San Jose traffic collision in 2021.
