Victor C. Bacigalupi II, resident of Arroyo Grande, CA, formerly of Terra Linda, Naples (FL), Napa, and La Quinta, passed away on 5/26/21 at home with his wife, his two children and granddaughter by his side. He was 86.
Victor was born in San Francisco to Victor and Dorothy (Hamilton) Bacigalupi. He was the grandson of Charles and Rosalie Hamilton / Louis and Frida Bacigalupi, and brother to Paul Bacigalupi. Victor attended St. James Grammar School, Riordan High School (53) and City College/ University of San Francisco where he attained a degree in marketing/business and was a member of the Alpha Delta Gamma Fraternity. Victor spent 2 years in the Navy Reserves before starting his career.
Victor married Mary Elizabeth Kennedy (deceased) in 1960. Father to Karen (John) Ravetti and Victor Bacigalupi III. Grandfather to Danielle and Dominic Ravetti. Upon his second marriage in 1995 to Carmen Gillette, a friend and business associate, he added to his own family stepchildren Lori Whipple, Richard Lusk, Steven Lusk (deceased) and Terry Lusk (Heidi). They have enjoyed their blended family for the past quarter century.
Regarding his professional career, Victor followed an opportunity when offered a position with Metromedia even though it meant relocating his family to Philadelphia for 3 years. He transferred back to San Francisco with the company and within a few years was awarded the advertising contract for the proposed BART station in San Francisco. It was around this time, he incorporated his own business, Victor Bacigalupi & Associates. From that evolved expansion into bus shelter transit and airport advertising nationwide which remained successfully active until his retirement in 1989. In retirement, he and Carmen traveled the world, moved, played golf, made olive oil and enjoyed their outings with their dog, Daisy.
Victor enjoyed entertaining and having a good time. Bigger was better! He was happiest out on the water captaining his boats the “Reel Joy” & “Simplicity”. He participated in many fishing tournaments in Mexico and Hawaii with his son and friends. He was a lifelong season ticket holder of the Forty Niners and even attended Super Bowl XIX at Stanford Stadium with his Father. Victor will be sadly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
