Musgrove gets back in groove for Padres

San Diego’s Joe Musgrove pitched six solid innings, Tommy Pham homered and the Padres beat the Marlins 52 Friday in Miami.

Winless in his previous three starts, Musgrove (67) allowed two runs and six hits, struck out four and walked one. Musgrove also hit a twoout double in the second and scored.

“I felt I did a good job of slowing it down, making the adjustment­s I needed to,” Musgrove said.

Trent Grisham had two hits and an RBI for the Padres, who have won the first two of the fourgame series.

“We’ve got to keep playing good and putting pressure on the other teams,” San Diego manager Jayce Tingler said. Astros 7, Rangers 3: Kyle Tucker hit a three-run homer in a big third inning to help host Houston hand Texas its 10th straight loss.

Rays 10, Indians 5: Nelson Cruz homered in his Tampa Bay debut and Joey Wendle hit a go-ahead single in a six-run ninth inning as the Rays beat host Cleveland.

Phillies 5, Braves 1: Zack Wheeler returned to his AllStar form for seven innings, Bryce Harper stole three bases, including home, and host Philadelph­ia beat Atlanta.

Cubs 8, D’backs 3: Javier Baez homered, Robinson Chirinos went deep twice, Zach Davies earned his first win since a combined nohitter last month and host Chicago beat Arizona.

Reds 6, Cardinals 5: Tyler Stephenson drove in Kyle Farmer with a tie-breaking sacrifice fly in the eighth inning, rallying Cincinnati past visiting St. Louis.

Orioles 6, Nationals 1: Pat Valaika homered twice — doubling his total for the season — and Baltimore beat Washington for just its second victory in its past 11 home games.

Royals 5, Tigers 3: Ryan O’Hearn hit a three-run homer and Carlos Santana also connected as host Kansas City ended Detroit’s seven-game winning streak.

Twins 5, Angels 4: Nick Gordon scored the go-ahead run in the eighth inning on a throwing error by catcher Kurt Suzuki as Minnesota rallied past visiting Los Angeles.
