Dodgers’ Betts will miss series at Oracle

-

Two days before they begin a threegame series against the firstplace Giants at Oracle Park, the secondplace Dodgers on Sunday placed AllStar right fielder Mookie Betts on the 10day injured list because of right hip inflammation.

Betts’ IL move is retroactive to Thursday. He last started July 17 at Colorado, and last played Monday when he pinch hit against the Giants at Dodger Stadium.

Manager Dave Roberts told MLB.com that Betts received a cortisone shot Saturday.

Betts is batting .270 with an .876 OPS and has 14 home runs with 40 RBIs.

AllStar to San Diego? The Padres, third in the NL West behind the Giants and Dodgers, have reached an agreement to acquire AllStar second baseman/outfielder Adam Frazier from the Pirates for utilityman Tucupita Marcano, DoubleA outfielder Jack Suwinski, Class A righthander Michell Miliano and cash.

Frazier, 29, is second in the NL in batting with a .324 average and leads the majors with 125 hits. He was pulled in the eighth inning of Pittsburgh’s game against the Giants at Oracle Park.

“Nothing’s final yet. I’m sure we’ll have that some time later tonight,” Pirates manager Derek Shelton said after the game. “He was taken out of the game out of the abundance of caution because there are some things that are possibly going down.”
