Pujols, Betts, Urias lead Dodgers’ rout

Albert Pujols doubled home three runs to cap a fiverun second inning, Mookie Betts homered in his return from the injured list and the Los Angeles Dodgers hammered the host Arizona Diamondbac­ks 130 on Sunday.

Betts, playing second base, had two hits, including his 15th homer of the season in the ninth.

“It was a lot of fun going back to my roots,” said Betts, who usually plays in the outfield. “It was good easing myself back into play.”

Julio Urias (133) and three relievers combined on a fourhitter for Los Angeles, which remained three games behind the firstplace Giants in the NL West.

Los Angeles outfielder A.J. Pollock peppered his former team with four hits, extending his hitting streak to 11 games.

“He’s carrying us right now,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said of Pollock, who is batting .526 against Arizona this season over nine games. Padres 8, Rockies 1: HaSeong Kim homered and drove in three runs as host San Diego earned a split of a four-game series with Colorado.

Rays 3, Red Sox 2: Shane McClanahan went six strong innings and Brandon Lowe homered as AL East-leading Tampa Bay completed a three-game sweep of visiting Boston.

Rangers 4, Mariners 3: Former A’s catcher Jonah Heim hit a game-ending homer for the second day in a row as Texas beat Seattle. The Rangers trailed 3-1 before Nathan Lowe singled to lead off the ninth and Andy Ibañez followed with a two-run homer. Five pitches later, Heim belted his winner.

Reds 7, Mets 1: Former A’s minor-leaguer Max Schrock went 5-for-5 with a home run and Vladimir Gutierrez held New York to three hits in seven innings for visiting Cincinnati. Brewers 2, Braves 1: Willy Adames homered and Brett Anderson pitched 52⁄3 strong innings as NL Central-leading Milwaukee improved its road record to 34-19.

Phillies 15, Pirates 4: Kyle Gibson, acquired from Texas on Friday, pitched into the seventh inning to win in his debut with visiting Philadelph­ia. J.T. Realmuto got five of the Phillies’ 20 hits, with two doubles and four RBIs.

White Sox 2, Indians 1: Brian Goodwin homered with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning to win it for Chicago. Blue Jays 5, Royals 1: Jose Berrios, acquired from Minnesota on Friday, pitched six shutout innings in his Toronto debut as the Blue Jays completed a three-game sweep in their first series north of the border since 2019.

Yankees 3, Marlins 1: Anthony Rizzo and Aaron Judge had RBI singles in the eighth inning as visiting New York completed a three-game sweep. Nationals 6, Cubs 5: Yadiel Hernandez’s solo shot in the ninth — his second homer of the day — gave host Washington the win. Chicago’s Rafael Ortega was 4-for-4 with three homers and five RBIs.

Tigers 6, Orioles 2: Erasmo Ramirez pitched two scoreless innings to pick up his first major-league win since Sept. 3, 2018, as host Detroit earned a split of the four-game series. Cardinals 7, Twins 3: Edmundo Sosa was 3-for-3 with a homer for host St. Louis.
