A woman’s right
Regarding “How to fight anti-abortion laws” (Sept. 10) and “Legislators must prioritize abortion access” (Letters, Sept. 10): There must also be a widespread education push to teach legislators what, in fact, constitutes life. Many, such as the Texas legislators, misunderstand life as something akin to a recipe ingredient that is injected into the zygote like jelly piped into a Danish pastry. Life is not an ingredient, it is a process.
They should learn that abortion is not the snuffing out of a life, but rather the interruption of a process before the process results in viability. Anytime before that point, for the sake of her physical and mental health or wellbeing, or for that of the potential child, a woman should have the right to interrupt that process.
