WHEN VANDERBILT HAS THE BALL

- — Steve Kroner

Stanford cornerback Kyu Blu Kelly has collected an interception in each of the first two games, including a 31-yard pick-six against USC. Vandy QB Ken Seals threw two interceptions in the loss to East Tennessee State, none in the win at Colorado State.

Four Vandy players have at least eight receptions this season, but wide receiver Chris Pierce Jr. is the only one averaging more than 10 yards per catch. He’s averaging 16.1 yards on his eight receptions, including a 20-yard TD against the Rams.

Shaw wants his players to recognize Vanderbilt’s SEC pedigree. He said he told them, “We are not the toughest game on their schedule. So, don’t think they’re going to back down to us.”
