Regarding “Remain a vigilant voter” (Letters, Sept. 17): The author is shocked that “some 36 percent of Californians voted to oust Gov. Gavin Newsom in favor of Larry Elder.” However, the 36 percent did not all vote in favor of Elder. Over half voted for other candidates. This means that only 1 in 4 Californians voted for Elder, a Trumpapproved candidate who wanted to abolish not just coronavirus restrictions but the minimum wage, too. This is not just shocking. It’s terrifying. We must indeed remain vigilant voters, or a small minority could take away all Americans’ hard-fought protections.
