Jack Boggeri passed away peacefully at his Fairfax home on Tuesday January 25, 2022. He was 89 years old and died of heart complications.

Jack was born in 1932 in San Francisco, the oldest son of Lorenzo and Rose Boggeri. He grew up a proud resident of the Mission District of San Francisco. He attended St. Peter’s Elementary School and St. Peter’s High School. He was very proud of his Italian heritage and his Mission District roots.

Jack served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany and played baseball for the U.S. Army team. At one point the New York Giants displayed interest in having him play in their farm system, but his Father, an immigrant from Italy who didn’t understand baseball, would not allow it.

Jack met his future wife Marilyn (Lynn) while working at Ricci’s Market in the Mission. They married in 1957 in San Francisco and raised four sons. They moved to Fairfax in 1964, where they joined St. Rita’s Catholic parish and made many lifelong friends. He led the annual crab cioppino fundraiser for many years at St. Rita’s and was renowned for his cioppino recipe.

Jack is best known for his career in the food business, but he worked as a bread truck driver and a real estate agent prior to joining Gallo Salame in 1964. He spent thirteen years at Gallo, working his way up from a territory salesman to National Sales Manager. In 1977, Jack left Gallo and held two jobs – one as a consultant to Galileo Capri Salami, one as the property manager for Rosano Construction. In 1981 he made the leap and started his own food brokerage company, J. Boggeri Company, Inc.

With Jack’s sales skills and his ability to connect with and truly care for people, the company thrived and grew and remains in business today.

Golf was one of Jack’s few hobbies, but he also enjoyed traveling. He and Lynn enjoyed Hawaii and spent many years visiting Europe. After retiring, Jack focused on helping his sons in any way needed. He traded in his Cadillac for a pickup truck and became the on-call handyman for his sons. He loved those projects more than anything.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marilyn (Councilman) Boggeri, and his four loving sons, Mike (Linda), Steve (Linda), Jim (fiancé Kristina) and Bob (friend Yasmine). He leaves behind 13 adored grandchildren and step grandchildren - Andrew, Dominic (fiancé Mary) and Adam (friend Gabriella) Boggeri, Alicia (Eric) Pruette, Tom Boggeri (friend Julie) and Meagan (Kyle) Nelson, Dante Boggeri, Sara (Matt) Harding, Mealani Smith and Ayden Ottolini, and Daniella, Gabriella and Giovanna Boggeri – and 7 great grandchildren – Shawn, Aaliyah, Natalie, Lucian, Jasper, Khaleesei and Evan. He was predeceased by his sister Lorraine Cirelli, brother-in-law Carlo Cirelli and brother Benny Boggeri. Also mourning his loss are his sister-in-law Shirley Boggeri and his brotherin-law and sister-in-law Al and Kathe DaCunha, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who were very close to him.

In lieu of flowers, donations to our hospice care team, By The Bay Health, would be appreciated.

A memorial mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 5th at 11 AM at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, 1104 5th Avenue San Rafael. Reception to follow.
