Rachel Sit Wong

February 24, 1934 to February 3, 2022

-

Rachel Sit Wong was born in Greenville, MS., on February 24, 1934. Her parents, Sit Chan Wah and Sit Jue Shee were Chinese immigrants and Rachel was the youngest of seven children (Marie, Fannie, Leon, Jerome, C.W., and Pearl). Rachel could often be found caring for her older sister, Pearl, or seen accompanying her father while running errands for the family business, Mee Jon Grocery Store.

Working hard to save money for college, and with the help of her brothers, Rachel attended and graduated with honors with a degree in Education at the Texas University for Women. After moving to Anaheim, California to teach for several years, she met her would-be husband, Alan, and wed in San Francisco, on June 22, 1962. Her children soon followed daughter (Kimberly) and son (Kevin).

She loved cooking, singing, and hosting, and was the biggest Bay Area sports fan to the 49ers, Golden State Warriors, and San Francisco Giants. She always sacrificed her own needs for family. She hosted many friends and relatives in her home - always supportive, encouraging, wise and generous.

Rachel will be remembered as a Christ follower, selfless, altruistic, and she always had a smile on her face. Her character and patient temperament were best shown as she cared for her husband, Alan. After her pancreatic cancer diagnosis, she loved and lived every moment she was given - always graceful, until our Lord called her home on February 3, 2022.

She is survived by her older sister Fannie, daughter Kimberley (Rob), son Kevin (Tricia), and grandsons Jordan, Tyler, Connor, and Christian.
