Dodgers, Roberts agree on extension

-

The Dodgers on Friday agreed to a three-year contract extension with manager Dave Roberts through the 2025 season, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Roberts, who led the team to a World Series title in 2020, is beginning his seventh season as the manager in Los Angeles. The Dodgers have reached the postseason in each of his first six seasons on their bench.

Roberts’ .622 career winning percentage is the best mark of any National League or American League manager in history. His 542 regular-season wins are fifth most in club history. Last year was the first time the Dodgers failed to win the NL West under Roberts’ watch, as they finished second behind the Giants despite winning 106 games.

Roberts, 49, played from 1999 to 2008, then was on the Padres’ coaching staff from 2011 to 2015.
