Douglas Greenberg
May 15, 1947 - June 8, 2022
Doug Greenberg, age 75, left us much too soon on June 8th 2022. He grew up in San Francisco and Daly City. He was a graduate from Westmoor High School. During his high school years he developed deep and lasting friendships with his “buddies” John, Rusty’s, Bruce’s, Rich and Dave. A few years later Doug started traveling through Europe ending in an enriching and enlightening stay at a Kibutz in Isreal. After his return to the United States he met and married his former wife Cathy. Together they built a home, family and careers. He embraced his step daughter Tessa Sposito and was overjoyed to welcome daughter Caitlin Greenberg on April 1st 1982.
He was not yet done with his Westmoor classmates though. In 2003 he reconnected with his current partner and former classmate Barbara Reed. A romance sparked and they have been loving, devoted partners ever since. Through Barbara he expanded his extended family to include her siblings and their children who all helped to make his life that much richer. Through all of these life events his brother and only sibling, Steven Greenberg, has been by his side and very much a part of his daily life.
He was an accomplished businessman, starting a high end painting business from scratch, building it into a well respected, sought after entity. Doug also had a passion for the “Blues”. Playing his harmonica with a close group of “music buddies”, his knowledge and appreciation of the Blues grew, enriching his life and expanding his world.
Doug loved his home, his sanctuary in Redwood City Ca. He took great pride in his beloved garden. He spent many hours tending to his tomatoes among his numerous other horticultural endevors. His garden provided him peace and tranquility.
We will all miss him more than words can say. A smile will come to the faces of those who knew him everytime he is remembered. Doug was, simply put, “a really cool dude”.
Douglas was predeceased by his mother Junice Greenberg and his father Seymor Greenberg.
A celebration of life will take place at a latter date this summer. Date to be announced.
“We love you Doug, Pop, Papa”.
