Carter leads Magic to victory over Suns

Wendell Carter Jr. had 20 points and 10 rebounds, and the Orlando Magic beat the visiting Phoenix Suns 114-97 on Friday night.

Terrence Ross scored 12 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter as Orlando (4-9) earned a second straight win for the first time this season. Franz Wagner had 17 points, Jalen Suggs scored 16 and Bol Bol collected a careerhigh 15 rebounds.

Cameron Payne scored 22 points for the Suns (8-4), who played a second straight game without injured guard Chris Paul. Devin Booker had 17 points on 6-for-19 shooting.

Phoenix shot 40% overall and made just 13 of 42 3-point shots.

Playing again without high-scoring rookie Paolo Banchero, the Magic led by as many as 21 points in the second half. Ross went 4-for-5 from the field in the fourth.

The Suns made only four of their first 19 3point shots and fell behind by 11 points before Booker and Payne shot them back into the game late in the first half.

Chuma Okeke, Caleb Houstan and Mo Bamba made 3-pointers in a span of 71 seconds late in the third quarter to push Orlando's lead up to 14. Knicks 121, Pistons 112: RJ Barrett scored 30 points, Jalen Brunson added 26, and host New York held on to beat Detroit. Julius Randle chipped in 21 points for the Knicks, who have won two of their past three games.

Bojan Bogdanovic scored 25 and Alec Burks had 17 for Detroit, which has lost five of its past six games.

New York trailed by four points with a little over four minutes to play in the first quarter before Barrett sparked a 14-5 run with seven points of his own to put the Knicks ahead 30-25 at the end of the period.

The Pistons are 0-7 on the road this season. Celtics 131, Nuggets 112:

Jayson Tatum had 34 points, eight rebounds and five assists and host Boston extended its season-best win streak to five games by beating Denver. It was Tatum's third straight game with at least 30 points and his seventh with 30-plus this season.

Jaylen Brown added 25 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. Thunder 132, Raptors 113:

Eugene Omoruyi led all scorers with 22 points to help Oklahoma City snap a four-game losing skid and beat Toronto at home.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added 20 points for the Thunder. Chris Boucher had 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Raptors. Spurs 111, Bucks 93: Keldon Johnson scored 29 points, and host San Antonio stopped a five-game skid by topping Milwaukee. Devin Vassell had 22 points in San Antonio's first win since Oct. 30. Jakob Poeltl added 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Milwaukee played without Giannis Antetokoun­mpo, Jrue Holiday, Kris Middleton, Pat Connaughto­n, Grayson Allen, Joe Ingles and A.J. Green due to health issues.
