WHEN CAL HAS THE BALL
• QB Jack Plummer put together his best game with Cal against the Trojans, going 35-for-49 for 406 yards and three touchdowns. Plummer faced the Beavers in Purdue’s season opener last year. He went 29-for-41 for 313 yards as the Boilermakers prevailed 30-21.
• Ott’s breakout game — a 274-yard gem — came in Cal’s most recent win, a 49-31 decision over Arizona on Sept. 24. Against the Trojans, he had his most complete performance since the one against the Wildcats. Ott ran 14 times for 50 yards and two TDs, and caught seven passes for 70 yards.
• The Beavers entered the weekend ranked third in the Pac-12 in points allowed per game (22.9) and yards allowed per game (356.1). They’ve excelled particularly against the pass, limiting opponents to the lowest completion percentage (55.8) and fewest passing TDs (nine) in the conference.
