We are sad to announce the passing of Mr. James Poulos of San Francisco, California. James died at the age of 91 on November 7, 2022, following a long battle with cancer. He is predecease­d by his parents, Milton and Effie Poulos, his sister Lillian Hamilton, and his daughter Joy Benetti. James is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Despina, sons Milton (Betty) Poulos, (grandson, Alexander), and Tony (Kerann) Poulos. He was cousin to Amalia (Jim) Tragas, Othonia Makris and Ramona Nicholson. James was born on August 22, 1931 in San Francisco and continued living there for the duration of his life. He was a barber for 65 years and owned his own shop till his retirement in 2011. James was a proud member of the Masonic Golden Gate Club, Speranza Lodge No. 30, for 65 years and was a beloved Marshall. James was an avid reader, world traveler and loved cooking for his wife. He was a warm, genuine, kindhearte­d and charming man who will be missed by all who knew him. Friends may visit Tuesday, November 15th for Trisagion Services at 7:00 pm at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave. Daly City, Ca 94014. A funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 16th at 10:00 am, at Annunciati­on Cathedral, 245 Valencia Street, San Francisco. Committal Greek Orthodox Cemetery, Colma. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations to be made in his honor to Annunciati­on Cathedral or to any charity of your choosing.
