Joseph L. Silva, Jr.

July 14, 1947 - November 5, 2022

Joseph L. Silva, Jr. of Fremont, passed away on November 5, 2022. He was born on July 14, 1947 in Alameda, California to Joseph and Lucille Silva.

Joseph graduated from St Elizabeth High in Oakland. He then continued his education by attending and graduating from the University of California at Berkeley and the University of California Hastings School of Law. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 70 for 44 years and held numerous positions. He was the union President for 22 years until his retirement in 2009 from Alzheimer’s Disease.

Joseph is survived by his sisters Sherry Silva and Jackie Silva, Aunt Patricia Silva Acamo, 7 Godchildren, and many family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Lucille, and his brother Robert Silva.

A Visitation will be held at Berge Pappas Smith Chapel of the Angels, 40842 Fremont Blvd, Fremont on Thursday, November 17, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Vigil at 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on November 18, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 37588 Fremont Blvd, Fremont, CA. Contributions may be made to The Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose, Smile Train, The Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choice.
