In OT, Devils extend run to 11

New Jersey’s Yegor Sharangovi­ch scored 57 seconds into overtime, Vitek Vanecek made 25 saves and the Devils beat the Maple Leafs 3-2 in Toronto on Thursday for their 11th straight victory.

Sharangovi­ch scored his fourth goal of the season on a rebound after Jack Hughes stole the puck.

Nico Hischier and Jesper Bratt also scored to help New Jersey improve to 143-0. The Devils have won 11 in a row for the third time in franchise history.

New Jersey snapped an eight-game losing streak against Toronto dating to April 2018 — and won at Scotiabank Arena for the first time since October 2017.

Auston Matthews had a goal and an assist for Toronto, William Nylander also scored and Matt Murray made 30 saves. Mitch Marner added an assist to push his points streak to 11 games, the longest active run in the NHL.

With Murray on the bench for an extra attacker, Nylander tied it with his eighth on a shot that hit New Jersey defenseman Jonas Siegenatha­ler with 2:09 left in regulation.

Stars 6, Panthers 4: Dallas scored four goals in the first period and beat host Florida despite losing starting goalie Scott Wedgewood to injury.

Wedgewood was carted off the ice by local paramedics not long after making a save on Anton Lundell in the second period. Bally Sports Southwest reported he was being treated in the arena and was not transporte­d to a hospital.

The Stars took control of the game by scoring three goals in the final five minutes of the first period upon taking a 1-0 lead.

Roope Hintz scored his first of two goals 4:58 into the game before teammates Nils Lundqvist, Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin all scored to close out the opening period.

Seguin’s goal came with 8.3 seconds remaining and was the final shot Sergei Bobrovsky (seven saves) faced as he was pulled for Spencer Knight to start the second.

Lightning 4, Flames 1: Nikita Kucherov had two goals and Andrei Vasilevski­y made 39 saves for host Tampa Bayt.

Steven Stamkos had a goal and an assist, and Philippe Myers also scored for the Lightning. Mikhail Sergachev picked up two assists and has five assists and seven points during a three-game point streak.

Avalanche 3, Hurricanes 2: Artturi Lehkonen scored 1:55 into overtime and Pavel Francouz made 46 saves as visiting Colorado beat Carolina for the second time in six nights.

Blue Jackets 6, Canadiens 4: Sean Kuraly scored twice in the third period for host Columbus,

Bruins 4, Flyers 1: David Krejci scored twice in the third period and host Boston won its fifth in a row by extending Philadelph­ia’s losing streak to five.

Briefly: Columbus placed Jake Bean on injured reserve because of a shoulder injury. He is one of four Blue Jackets defenseman on IR . ... The NHL announced that the start of the Sharks’ game at Arizona on Jan. 10 has been moved up 30 minutes, to 6 p.m. PST.
