Parking lot crash kills 1 in San Mateo

A driver died Thursday, a day after a three-car crash left two other people injured at a Target store parking lot in San Mateo, according to police.

San Mateo police responded just after noon at the 2220 block of Fashion Island Boulevard off Highway 92 and found three vehicles involved in the crash in the north portion of the parking lot, police said. Three people were initially taken to the hospital where two remain in stable condition.

San Mateo police are investigating the crash and said they believe speed played a role.
