A monthslong fentanyl investigation came to an end last week with the arrest of two Oakland men, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

Angel Henrriquez, 22, and Jesus Samuel Irias Gamaz, 26, were booked into the Marin County Jail for a multitude of charges as a result of the investigation. Detectives secured a bail enhancement of $500,000 for Irias Gamaz as well as a $150,000 bail enhancement for Henrriquez, officials said.

An investigation led by the sheriff’s specialized investigative unit that lasted several months led authorities to believe Irias Gamaz was selling fentanyl in Marin County. During the investigation, an undercover detective arranged and purchased more than 10 ounces of fentanyl from Gamaz, officials said.

The investigation came to a close when Irias Gamaz and Henrriquez were both arrested during a narcotics transaction Wednesday evening in San Rafael, according to the sheriff’s office. Officers recovered approximately 1 pound of suspected fentanyl that had been packaged for sales as well as a digital scale, officials said.

Detectives also conducted a search of an Oakland residence they found an additional 2.2 pounds of suspected fentanyl and about $3,000.
