Texas beats Baylor, keeps its Big 12 title hopes alive

Bijan Robinson rushed for 179 yards and two touchdowns, Jaylan Ford recorded his fourth intercepti­on of the season, and No. 24 Texas defeated visiting Baylor 38-27 on Friday.

The Longhorns (8-4, 6-3 Big 12) kept alive their chances of making the conference title game. If Kansas can beat No. 15 Kansas State on Saturday, Texas will face No. 4 TCU for the Big 12 championsh­ip.

Robinson carried 29 times, including 22 in the second half, when he gained 150 yards.

Quinn Ewers and lineman Gabe Hall scooped up the ball and ran 16 yards for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter. A 2-point conversion put the Bears (6-6, 4-5) ahead 27-24. Robinson gained 65 of Texas' 75 yards on its go-ahead drive, scoring from the 1 to give the Longhorns a 31-27 lead with 8:25 remaining.

• In the Pac-12, Michael Wiley ran for 214 yards and three touchdowns, and host Arizona beat Arizona State 38-35 to end a five-game losing streak in the Territoria­l Cup rivalry. The Wildcats (5-7, 3-6) twice led by 10 points and let the Sun Devils (3-9, 2-7) back in it both times in a game that featured 1,018 combined yards.

• In other top 25 games, Ben Finley threw for 271 yards and two touchdowns in his first career start, and visiting North Carolina State held on to beat Drake Maye and No. 18 North Carolina 30-27 when Noah Burnette duck-hooked a 35-yard field goal try in the second overtime. Maye connected with Antoine Green from 4 yards out on the final play of regulation to tie the game at 24-all, but N.C. State (8-4, 4-4 ACC) kept the league's Coastal Division champion Tar Heels (9-3, 6-2) out of the end zone in the first overtime . ... Michael Pratt found Duece Watts with a 30-yard touchdown pass with five minutes left to lead No. 19 Tulane to a 27-24 win at No. 24 Cincinnati, making the Green Wave (10-2, 7-1) the hosts for the upcoming American Conference Championsh­ip game.

• Nebraska and former Carolina Panthers coach Matt Rhule reportedly are finalizing a deal to make him the the Cornhusker­s' head coach.

Texans bench QB Mills

The Houston Texans benched former Stanford quarterbac­k Davis Mills and will start Kyle Allen on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, head coach Lovie Smith announced.

Mills, who is in his second year, has struggled as the Texans (1-8-1) have lost five games in a row. Mills has thrown seven intercepti­ons with just five touchdown passes during Houston's five-game skid.

• Tests on Buffalo Bills pass rusher Von Miller's injured right knee reportedly showed no tear to the anterior cruciate ligament. Head coach Sean McDermott declined to provide any details on the injury suffered in Thursday's win at Detroit except to rule out Miller from playing against New

England next week.

• Russell Wilson and the Broncos will be without receivers Jerry Jeudy (ankle) and KJ Hamler (hamstring) for their game Sunday at Carolina. Denver will also be missing cornerback K'Waun Williams (wrist/elbow/knee) and defensive lineman Jonathan Harris (knee).

• Los Angeles Chargers receiver Mike Williams has been ruled out for Sunday's game at Arizona due to an ankle injury . ... Green Bay Packers rookie offensive lineman Sean Rhyan, who has not played a snap this season, has been suspended without pay for six games for violating the NFL's policy on performanc­e-enhancing substances. Tennis: Australia had to fight back twice to reach its first Davis Cup final in 19 years, beating Croatia 2-1 in Malaga, Spain. On Sunday, the Aussies will play either Canada or Italy, which play Saturday in the other semifinal.
