Star forward Boston injured in South Carolina’s win

Aliyah Boston missed the second half of No. 1 South Carolina’s game against visiting Hampton on Sunday with her right foot in a walking boot, but reserves Bree Hall and Ashlyn Watkins scored 14 points each in an 85-38 win.

Boston, the reigning Associated Press Player of the Year, took a hard fall on a drive to the basket late in the second quarter and needed several moments to stand. Soon she headed to the locker room.

Boston returned to the bench midway through the third period with a walking boot on her right foot and cheered on her teammates, now 6-0. #3 UConn 86, #9 Iowa 79:

Azzi Fudd scored 24 points to rally the Huskies (5-0) in Portland, Ore., in the championsh­ip game of the first Phil Knight Legacy women’s tournament. The Hawkeyes (5-2) got 25 points from Caitlin Clark.

#4 Ohio St. 105, North Alabama 67: Rebeka Mikulasiko­va had 23 points for the host Buckeyes (6-0).

#8 North Carolina 73, #5 Iowa State 64: Deja Kelly scored 29 points as the Tar Heels (6-0) rallied to win the title game of the Phil Knight Invitation­al tournament in Portland, Ore. Stephanie Soares led the Cyclones (5-1) with 19 points and 12 rebounds.

#11 Virginia Tech 89, Longwood 28: Elizabeth Kitley had 23 points and 14 rebounds and reserve Kayana Traylor had 11 points and 10 rebounds, for the host Hokies.

#14 Maryland 87, Pittsburgh 63: Abby Meyers scored 12 of her 23 points in Maryland’s 36point third quarter and the Terrapins (6-2) rolled to finish the Fort Myers (Fla.) Tip-Off. Maliyah Johnson had 15 points for Pitt (5-2). #18 Oregon 86, Michigan

St. 76: Endyia Rogers scored 19 points, including back-to-back 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and the Ducks (5-1) won the thirdplace game of the Phil Knight Invitation­al. Isaline Alexander scored 15 points on 7-for-9 shooting for the Spartans (6-2). #19 Texas 74, Princeton 50: Sonya Morris scored 15 points, Taylor Jones notched a double-double and the host Longhorns (3-3) breezed. The Longhorns picked up their second straight win after a three-game losing streak. Texas fell 16 spots in the AP poll. Kaitlyn Chen topped Princeton (3-2) with 15 points.

#22 Michigan 84, #21 Baylor 75: Emily Kiser scored 26 points on 10for-13 shooting and grabbed 13 rebounds and the Wolverines (7-0) scored the final 11 points to win the championsh­ip game of the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Fla. Jaden Owens scored 22 points for the Bears (5-2).

#23 Tennessee 105, Eastern Kentucky 71: Rickea Jackson scored 15 points in a balanced attack and the host Volunteers (4-4) coasted. Antwainett­e Walker had 18 points for the Colonels (4-3).

#23 Villanova 72, South Florida 50: In Estero, Fla., Maddy Siegrist scored 25 points and the Wildcats (6-1) won the third-place game of the Gulf Coast Showcase. Sammie Puisis scored 17 points for the Bulls (7-2).

MEN’S GAMES Alabama defeats UNC in four OTs

Mark Sears had 24 points, five rebounds and five assists, and No. 18 Alabama (6-1) sent top-ranked North Carolina to a second straight loss with a 103-101 victory in a quadrupleo­vertime thriller in Portland, Ore., in the thirdplace game of the Phil Knight Invitation­al.

The Tar Heels (5-2) wasted Caleb Love’s 34 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Alabama forward Noah Clowney took a hard fall on a dunk attempt four minutes into the first half and did not return.

#24 Purdue 75, #8 Duke 56: Tournament MVP Zach Edey had 21 points and 12 rebounds for the Boilermake­rs (6-0) in Portland, Ore., in the title game of the Phil Knight Legacy tourney. Tyres Proctor scored 16 points for the Blue Devils (6-2). #12 Michigan St. 78, Portland 77: Tyson Walker scored 15 points as the Spartans (5-2) won the fifth-place game of the Phil Knight Invitation­al in Portland. Tyler Robertson had 16 points for the Pilots (5-4).

#13 Auburn 65, St. Louis 60: Wendell Green Jr. scored 22 points, and the host Tigers (7-0) closed on a 12-2 run. The Billikens (5-2) missed six straight shots before Yuri Collins’ drive with 20 seconds left. #19 UCLA 81, Bellarmine 60: Jaime Jaquez Jr. scored a season-high 27 points, and the host Bruins (5-2) got the win without leading scorer Jaylen Clark (non-COVID-19 illness). Bellarmine freshman Ben Johnson led the Knights (2-5) with 20 points.
