Stanford women roll 68-39
Ashten Prechtel scored 12 of her season-high 17 points in the first half to help No. 2 Stanford defeat Hawaii 68-39 on Sunday on the final day of the Rainbow Wahine Showdown in Honolulu.
The Cardinal (7-1) erased an early deficit and held the Rainbow Wahine (1-6) to a season-low scoring output.
Prechtel came off the bench and shot 6-for-10 from the field, including hitting five 3-pointers. She also grabbed 11 rebounds.
Cameron Brink scored 15 points, grabbed nine rebounds, recorded five blocks and three steals. Haley Jones added 11 points and Talana Lepolo logged eight assists in the win.
Lily Wahinekapu led Hawaii with 12 points.
The Cardinal improved to 11-0 all-time against the Rainbow Wahine, including an 8-0 mark in Honolulu.
Stanford, which was coming off a loss to No. 1 South Carolina before the tournament, beat Florida Gulf Coast, Grambling State and Hawaii in succession by holding its three opponents to 31% shooting and outrebounding the three teams 150-75.
Against Hawaii, Stanford trailed 5-2 early but used an 18-0 run to take a 20-5 lead and was never headed. Jones had seven points and Brink and Prechtel six each during the push.
Stanford led 25-7 after the first quarter and pushed its edge to 40-17 by halftime. After Hawaii enjoyed a four-point scoring edge in the third quarter, the Cardinal responded by outpointing the Rainbow Wahine by 10 in the fourth.
