ASU hires head coach
Arizona State hired Oregon offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham on Sunday, making the 32-year-old the youngest head football coach in a Power Five conference.
“I'm home,” said Dillingham, a Phoenix native and Arizona State alum. “I'm fired up to be here, fired up to be a Sun Devil.”
Dillingham succeeds Herman Edwards, who was fired in September after a 1-2 start. Shaun Aguano served as the interim coach, with Arizona State posting a 2-7 record after the change.
Wisconsin hired Luke Fickell as its head coach after he posted a 57-18 record in six seasons at Cincinnati.
Fickell, 49, takes over for interim coach Jim Leonhard, who replaced Paul Chryst on Oct. 2. Chryst went 67-26 in 7½ seasons at the school.
Tulsa fired coach Philip Montgomery, who 5-7 this season and 43-53 in eight seasons with the school.
Postgame incident: Oregon's athletic administration said Sunday it is gathering information after video surfaced showing Ducks outside linebacker DJ Johnson striking a person in Oregon State gear on the field after Oregon State's 38-34 win Saturday.
Johnson is seen punching the person from behind and then being restrained and led away by what appears to be two Oregon staff members.
“We are aware of a postgame exchange involving a member of our football team and a fan and are working to gather more information,” the Oregon athletic department said in a statement.
“We are (aware) of this matter and are confident that the Pac-12 Conference and the University of Oregon will investigate this matter and deal with it appropriately,” Oregon State spokesman Steve Clark said.
The Pac-12 did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
