Killer robots will perpetuate distrust of police
Regarding “‘Killer robots’ OKd for SFPD” (Front Page, Nov. 30): I would have thought the potential for abuse, especially in the light of the internal and systemic racism in Bay Area policing, would eliminate this proposal.
The justification that only high-ranking officers will be allowed to authorize deadly force is hollow considering that high-ranking officers are not separate from the culture that has produced racist police texts and disproportionate arrests of people of color.
I can’t imagine a worse way to increase the suspicion and distrust of the police attempting to serve our community.
