Pauline Alioto passed away surrounded by her family on December 3, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, and two of her children, Joe Jr., and Richard. She is survived by her other two children, Paul and Rita (Matt), her daughter-in-law Sherryl, and her four grandchildren: Sophia, Sarah, Stephanie, and Marykate.

Pauline was born to Paul and Grace Maiorana on May 22, 1934, in San Francisco. At a young age she was nicknamed “Toots” and to this day was fondly called that by both family and friends. Pauline grew up in North Beach where she attended Marina Junior High and Galileo High School. In the early 50’s she met the love of her life, Joe, and the two were married on August 31, 1958. They then moved to the Sunset District where they lived together and raised their family.

She was blessed to have one brother Paul Jr., (Patricia) who she adored. She now joins him in paradise along with her in-laws, Antonina (Frank), Nunzio (Antionette), Peter (Nina), and Frank (Mary). Her one surviving sister-in-law, Francesca, she cherished and loved dearly.

As both a Mom and Nonnie you could find Pauline at every event that we participated in. She was a Mom and Nonnie to all and always made sure you had something to eat whenever you stopped by!! She never grew tired of going to the countless school, sporting, and extra curricular activities and she always watched with enthusiasm and was the best cheerleader. She loved and never missed a party or family gathering.

Pauline was a proud Italian Catholic and was active in her church and community as well. She was a member of the Madonna Addolorata di S’Elia, the Italian Catholic Federation Branch 259, Lady Sodality of the Miraculous Medal, Our Lady of Visitation Mother’s Club and the Merry Travelers.

She and Joe had a love of travel and had many memorable trips both near and far. She will be wholeheartedly missed by her kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; especially her best friend Pat Andrieu. Pauline was truly a gift to all who knew her, and we know that her spirit will live on forever.

Friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, December 13th at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave. in Daly City from 4pm to 8pm where a Vigil will begin at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 14th at 11am at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 2259 40th Ave. in San Francisco. She will be laid to rest next to her dear husband Joe at the Italian Cemetery in Colma.

Donations may be made in her memory to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (https://givenow.lls.org/) or to the St. Gabriel School.
